44 Gatti è il titolo di una famosissima canzone per bambini che nel 1968 vinse lo Zecchino d’Oro.
Questa canzone è anche il titolo di questa opera in progress.
Nel 2013 mi trasferii a Mumbai in India, realtà difficile che mi spinse ad utilizzare materiali poveri facilmente a disposizione.
Poco prima venne a mancare anche il gatto che mi aveva accompagnato per più di 20anni.
Sublimando il desiderio di adottarne un’altro e per superare il lutto, iniziai a creare i miei gatti di cartapesta cercando di renderli il più vivi possibile.
Questi gatti sono a grandezza naturale, li realizzai all'inizio con la carta del giornale locale "Mumbai Mirror", che mi dedicò un articolo intitolato: "Cat Woman".
Un altro articolo sull'origine di questo lavoro e' stato pubblicato da una rivista italiana.

In 2013 I moved to Mumbai in India, a difficult reality that pushed me to use poor materials that were easily available.
Shortly before, the cat who had accompanied me for more than 20 years also passed away.
Sublimating the desire to adopt another and to overcome the mourning, I began to create my own papier-mâché cats trying to make them as alive as possible.
These cats are life-size, I made them at the beginning with the paper of the local newspaper "Mumbai Mirror", which dedicated an article to me entitled: "Cat Woman".
Another article on the origin of this work was published by an Italian magazine.
